Welcome to
How I Made It
PAGE 3
The best way to get the basic Texas shape is to get a picture of the State of Texas (IE map, this or other drawing, etc..) and then enlarge it via photocopy until you get close to these dimensions. Then attach the photocopy to a piece of 1/4 inch hardboard via spray adhesive and cut it out using a scroll saw, jig saw, or band saw. You now have your model for designing your own State of Texas Cowboy Hat Rack.
You can enlarge this drawing (as discussed previously in the directions for making the Texas Shaped hat rack), but actually what I did was, I took one of my old boots and traced around it onto a piece of 1 x 12 including all the imperfections. I even used some of the imperfections in my design (I just don't like the straight look you see here in the drawing) and made it fit onto the 1 x 12.

Regarding the width of each tine - minimum means that these MUST be at least 1 inch wide for strength purposes. Wider is better, but you MUST maintain the 7 1/2 inch inside dimensions to accommodate the crown of the hat. Too wide and you will take away from the look of the rack, too thin and the tines will break with use.
